So, we have to bid adieu.......... I'm so sad and will dearly miss our 67 artists!!! But, my paintbrush is a callin' and the gas is just a soarin, and my porch is sad sense I haven't spent nearly enuf time sittin with it.......so, we are closing our beautiful gallery which was nestled in Saluda NC......... So, if yall didn't get down that way....don't waste your gas!!! Instead, come on out to Hendersonville NC.....just a short drive West....six miles outside o town, and come see me on our porch!
my awesome artists!!!! If yall need help gettin representation from other galleries, feel free to shoot me a holler, I can phone a few for yall or write you a letter of recommendation....... just remember when one door closes another always opens!
On a personal note, Nichole Livengood came to meet with me the day I found out we were closing.....which is a prime example of doors closin and opening, but she is now representing artists and assisting them with their marketing, so she an I will now be workin together! If yall are interested in her expertise for yourself check her out at www.arttoprofit.com ! She is so funny n refreshin and has gr8 contacts!
So, loads has been goin on down here on the homeplace as well....the neverending saga of our cats.......so Peaches passed away, he got an awful cut on his face which ending up absessing and I couldn't help him....he passed away in my arms and I swear I could feel his little spirit release......he was one of our favorites.....well he was the proud papa of soon to be little ones, with Miss Ginger, so April 15, good Lord Tax day!, she gave birth to 6 beautiful little ones......and what a momma! I cannot even compare, she took such good care of em all.......but then about three weeks ago, she was out gallavanting and hunting as she always does down n the hayfields and I suppose she decided to cross the big road and got hit......I was so sad, you know my momma n daddy got killed when I was little, well this just brought all that back, now we have 6 wee little ones with no momma, so between the gallery closin and all we are raisin the little bits....they are so hilarious! I'm gonna try n get some pics up for yall.....
well, I gotta run n finish stuff up at the gallery but I will be home ta write much more often now.......so yall get ready for some hilarious tall tales from the homefront here in the beautiful Blue Ridge Mountains....Mount Pinnacle is callin to me from cross the street and the Good Lord is tellin ma heart all will be well.....
check back often, ya hear, love MaW
So, I have been busy.....
I'm sorry I haven't written yall in a while....first of all, my grandpa, Linder Webber has been sick for a very long time and I really wanted to get to go see him, but couldn't for many reasons, mostly money, folks just aren't buyin art right now, ya know? So, anywho, he passed away......and I don't deal well with death and stuff like that, plus I have been a missin my son in Texas somethin awful, and wantedt o get him a plane ticket to come see me....was gonna do that but that fell through too......so been a wee bit on the sad side for a few weeks
Other than that, we had the opening for DAD and had the Full Moon Dusters come down to play for us. It was a lovely time and we now have Humbled coming to play Friday night. I pray many folks come out to see it......you know getting into this gallery thang, I had been praying and wanting to start my own gallery, mainly to have my own place to show my artwork, but I have grown alot in the recent years, spiritually and God is showin me so much and now I see that our gallery is not only gonna be to help the artists sell their work, get it out there, but also to help other folks too. We have alot of inspirational bands coming to play soon and even a comedian next week! Ronnie Wyatt....so I can't wait to see things start to develop
The economy is so bad, we are hanging on by the hairs of our heads, if yall need framing please come and see us or please consider backing the artists by purchasing artwork. They really need you, we need you.
If yall ever have ideas or needs that we can help with let us know too.

We at the Gallery at Bear Creek are going to feature a wonderful emerging artist Don A Drown or DAD in our next upcoming show. I found him surfing the net and am inspired by his story of strife bringing him into a freedom to paint. He is wonderful and draws upon his life experiences. He is also an accomplished photographer and I'm so excited to feature his works in our gallery. Please come and see his works beginning April 14, 2008, but the Grand Opening of his show will be Friday April 18. We will plan on having music playing on the porch as well
The below is his bio-
"Don A. Drown views the world through the lens of an artist who has devoted his life to capturing the beauty, the drama, and the emotions of life through an array of mediums.
For thirty-four years, Drown brought news and entertainment to life as Director of Photography and camera operator on countless film and television projects for a virtual alphabet soup of networks including, ABC, NBC,CBS, FOX, CNN, MSNBC and PBS. Drown has traveled the world for his work with National Geographic, Smithsonian, Time Life Films, the 1978 Winter Olympics and the 1996 Summer Olympics. His work as a still camera photographer, videographer, underwater camera operator, steadi-cam operator and film director bring an extraordinary dimension to his oil on canvas work that is as distinct and diverse as the man himself.
A native of Ohio, Drown developed a love of photography and adventure at an early age, at 8 he bought his first camera, processing and printing his own film. At 13 he started taking flying lessons, and got his first motorcycle at age 14. When he turned 16 he soloed and received his student pilots license. He went on to receive his airline transport pilots license. While exploring the skies he also developed a love of the sea and became a certified scuba diver. Through all of his adventures, Don always kept a camera at the ready. His talent for embracing the splendor of the natural world around him is apparent in his breathtaking wildlife photography.
In 2002, a health crisis and the recovery period that followed, provided the impetus for Drown to adapt his artistic interpretation to a new, less physical medium. He began to find artistic expression in oil painting. “In the past I had dabbled with oil and enjoyed it immensely, but never had the time to explore it. So, to give me something to do and as therapy, I started to paint, it became a passion!. I bought books on DeKooning, Klee, Berger, Picasso, Matisse and other artists of that type. I read, studied and looked at their works and style.”
Don found that his instincts for photographic composition served him well in his painting and without the physical barrier of a camera between him and the subject, he was able to discover an even deeper intimacy with his work. This awakened a renewed enthusiasm for his visual artistry. “I need color, saturation, contrast, angles and I love it when someone is staring at a piece of my art and a little smile comes across their face. I love painting, I love my works, and it's my whole life!”
Don finds inspiration for his art riding his motorcycle through the mountains near his home in North East Georgia where he has built a private gallery. “I try to keep my work diverse. I paint what I like and what I feel. I try to keep 2 or 3 canvases or moods working at all times. When the mood strikes, I paint, when it doesn’t I ride.”
Drown’s eclectic works reflect a lifetime of images seen through the lens of a Master Photographer and Adventurer." The above bio quoted from Drown's website www.dadsgallery.com
